October 28, 2007 - We passed another inspection! This is especially good news because our permit was set to go to inactive status (a very bad thing) the next day! The inspection was for exterior sheathing, and you can see it installed here. The sheathing is 2" EPS insulation that will help keep our home energy effecient.
You can see the framing is progressing just fine. We had to make a few minor adjustments here and there to accomodate the already ordered doors. If you look just below the window opening, you can see the joists that are already installed for the second floor. The wall in the foreground separates the dining and living rooms.
Here, Jennifer is imaging what it will be like to stand at the kitchen sink washing dishes while observing her many children playing in the backyard. (She has an active imagination!) Charlotte is in the Baby Bjorn listening to Jennifer tell her about all the fun she will have in the backyard.
This is a close-up of the 2nd floor joists.
The stucco work has begun as well! Our garage dome and the link are complete, except for the entryways. We think the angles really make this a unique home and prevent it from looking too much like an igloo.
November 3, 2007 - The framing of the second floor joists is complete. We will add the sheathing this coming week and then the staircase.
The stucco job for the main dome is almost complete. The company is working this weekend to earn a quick end to the job.
November 12, 2007 - We finally decided on a paint color! The SabinDome will be a light green color, as seen on the left. I bet you can't tell how pretty the color is from the screen though... you should probably see it in person.
Our doors and windows have been delivered! Yeah!
Here is the front entry door, from the inside. It hasn't been installed yet, though I am sure it won't be long.
